About me
Meet George
My name is George Stocker
I have a passion for getting people back on the road after injury. I spent 3 years at St Marys University in London (which for sports fans is where Mo Farrah trains and less than a mile from Twickenham Stadium) studying sports rehabilitation and registered with the British Association of Sports Rehabilitates and Trainers (BASRaT). After a few years of practice and moving back to Yorkshire I completed a masters in physiotherapy from YorkSt John university.
Some of my experiences include massage support at the London and Brighton Marathons as well as working with amateur, professional and international rugby teams, with the likes of London Irish, Harlequins Ladies (professional) and Fiji International rugby teams. I now work with local sports teams Wetherby RUFC and Harrogate Railway FC, providing first class physiotherapy and rehab classes
But I don’t just do sports injuries, at the age of 9, I was confined to a wheelchair and had to learn to walk again. Thanks to an inspirational physio and personal trainer, I got back making a full recovery and have know moved back to my native Yorkshire and am ready to apply my knowledge and experience to help the local community, always providing treatment with that trademark Yorkshire smile.
I am trained in the latest evidence based treatments for different conditions. So if its anything from ruptured ligaments to stiff joints or just getting more mobile to walk to the shops, please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to help.

Sports rehabilitation v physiotherapy
So how are Sports Rehabilitators different to Physiotherapists? While both professions are very similar they are a few key differences. While a Physio tends to focus more on the acute phase of injury, Rehabilitates look more at the longer term effects of injury as well as the initial treatment, focusing more on utilising techniques such as sports massage and exercise therapy to help athletes return to sport. Sport Rehabilitates tend to have a stronger understanding of the demands of different sports and how even after an injury seems too have healed, further conditioning is needed to prepare the injured area for sporting demands.
